Side Trip: Boac Church

Pls. like my Facebook page, Bak-paker's Adventures.

While I was in Marinduque, I made a side trip to one of the oldest religious structures of the island.

For more photos of the Boac Church, pls. visit my Facebook album by clicking this link Boac Church.

Boac Cathedral – Located at the Boac Poblacion, this cathedral was constructed in the year 1792. The latter was also the shrine of the miraculous image of the Biglang-awa. The doors of the cathedral really caught my attention. The door has the 4 Evangelists carved on it. When I tried pushing a door, it was really heavy. The exterior is made of stone and bricks.

There's a separate altar for the miraculous image of Mahal na Birhen ng Biglang-awa (Our Lady of Prompt Succour). When you get out of the chuch, there's a small shrine located at the left (facing the facade). When you enter the small shrine, you can see the image enclosed in its marble altar.
